Trillium Augustipetalum x ?
This Trillium was originally bought in as seed, named Trillium sessile rubrum from Denmark, many years ago. However it resembles our Trillium Augustipetlum crossed with anotherr variety. I have never been able to name this correctly. To 50 cms. Large rhizomes. Slender erect, 3 petalled lily type flowers that are always a deep red in spring. With aging, the flowers take on a slight twist. Long flowering. The leaves are very uniform and always have very dark marbling on them and do lighten with age. I consider this well worth growing in the garden. Suitable for under deciduous trees, rhododendrons, woodland areas. Autumn/winter dormant.
